Brass or bronze of butterfly? But what is it?

Found this yesterday. Wondering what it is. Looks like a butterfly. One hole with countersink so that makes me wonder if a flathead screw was used to attach it to something. I don't believe a backer plate for a drawer pull. Thanks.

How big is it??
Looks like it is sitting on your knee, so 3"x4"??
Thats a little big foir a drawer pull, so I would say some sort of furnture decoration.
