I need help with the ID and how far back does it go back to? I dug it next to a early 1900s house which is on a mid 1800s farm in northeast Atlanta GA

Copper from the armature shaft of a generator/motor.
They go between the metal sections
On the shaft.
Not a great example

Here's a good example of your piece.

Scrapped out many, and bought 1000s of them while having the scrap yard.

If its Brass and not Copper then most likely not used for a generator. What is the thickness of that piece ?

Found one just like it from an early 1900s homesite. But, I don't have any idea what it is.
