Hello all, found this baggage tag near the depot at Deer River, MN.

It's definitely brass... and looks really cool.

Any ideas as to what era it was used in!?

Thanks!

Not sure of it's age but, I can confirm it's got coolness factor going for it. Nice find.

No help with age but congrats on a nice find

That is a beauty. Those sure look nice in your collection. I sold a cool one I found but wish I would have held onto it. If you find an extra let me know:) Congrats on a great keeper!

very cool find, the railway/railroad history is very colorful and you found a little piece of it

Nice tag, always was fond of RR finds.

Headquarters in St. Paul, MN, the Great Northern Railway was in service from 1857 to 1970.
Cool find,, congratulations

Thats a very nice looking Railway Tag, although I dont know if it would be considered a baggage tag. Most baggage tags had a claim number on them. It is obviously some sort of a tag for the railroad that was attached to something, maybe a mailbag ? Its still a great find no matter what it was attached to !

It does have a coolness to it.. Nice find

I can narrow the time range a little: The tag maker, C. H. Hanson Co., didn't come into existence until 1866.
Actually, they still are in business and you may wish to contact them for more information.

C.H. Hanson : Company
Don....

Thanks so much all!!
I knew you guys were pros on research.
Excellent work.
I'm diving into more history now!
