Here's another item I dug today. At first glance I thought - oh, a brass chain link. Then I thought, that's weird, why would they have a brass chain. What purpose would that have served? I don't know, it may just be a plain brass chain ring but then again, you never know. It could be part of a buckle or something.
Any guesses?

They used brass chain on chandeliers and such.

A lot of horse tack, bridles, and such also featured the more weather resistant brass hardware as well.
