Is it threaded on the inside, and on both ends, is it one solid piece or two pieces connected together?

i'm thinking it is the female half of a brass ferrule set used for joining to pieces of rod. could be for fishing pole, tent pole, walking stick and so on. I'm guessing that the large end is smooth bore and the small end internally threaded?

The old Ford York A/C compressors used a similar threaded cap that went over the service valve. I remember them being aluminum rather than brass but maybe an earlier model used brass?

It's definitely solid brass, one piece, and not threaded on the open end inside. If you look at the pic of the inside, it looks like a small wire/pin going perpendicular across. I also see a weld mark for this on the outside. The inside appears to narrow a bit after this wire. What a mystery. Location is 1930's to today. Thanks for all the interest.
