Brass tool?

This long piece is 2 1/4 inches long and looks like some kind of tool, it is made of brass. It has three sides in the middle and three sides on the end, and it is hand made. There are two different size notches at both ends. Any ideas?

Looks like part of a old divider......like this one I found or simular.
