What I do know:

Brass; I nicked it just above the 20 :P

Old farm field.

Not sure if it is bent, or that is the original shape.

brass1 (Small).webp
It has 4 sections, two smaller than the other two.

Any help appreciated.

Re: BRASS ????

My first impression is that it might have been somewhat square-shaped with the two thin sides and two thick sides opposite each other. However, I'm sure that doesn't help much with ID'ing it.

Everything helps ;D

However, my original thought was that it was round :-\

Is it solid or hollow? What makes you think it is brass?

If you want to go tick hunting come down here to Louisiana.
They are so big we use them for catfish bait. ::)
Could that be some type of retaining ring?

Possibly a version of a 'D' ring used on tack. Except it has two flat sides...

DC,

yes, I was thinking some sort of tack equipment.

Just thought someone might have an exact purpose
for the shape of this one.

Thanks.

Kia Ora Shermanville, It appears to me like this style of belt or harness buckle - as below,
found on this site. Cheers, Mike

Sure Tin,

now I'm talking with sheep,

Don't know a lot about guns but, do you think is a ring that held the stock to the barrel of a rifle or shotgun?

Or a ring to be used where a screw would not be feasible to hold parts together?

I promise that,
I do not take offence to Sheep Jokes.
My gumboots are bigger than that!

I reckon ;D
This is a belt buckle, somewhat squashed, lost its 'pin'
One of the thinner 'sides' (left thin bit) shows triangulation where the pin might rest, the other thinner side - on the right of pic
has a 'stain' exactly in the middle where the 'pin' would be hinged.
As always, my comments are open to criticism
Unless you're an Aussie - in which case, I will
expect it as a matter of course - and give back as much,
to our ANZAC brothers and sisters
with much fondness
naturally- and Hey Sherm!
Cheers, Mike
