My oldest coins so far! I just purchased an AT Pro from Wayne and Doug at Metal Detecting Stuff in Spring Wednesday and the first time I take it out I find 5 British Large Pennies. Apparently they were prizes in a game at the Texas Renaissance Festival many years ago. These were found in the parking area near where the booth was located. Years are 1899 w/ Victoria, 1914 & 1917 w/ George V, 1965 & 1967 w/ Elizabeth.

I was so excited and confused when I found the first one, the 1914, Friday night that I left the area to clean it up. I showed them to a friend that told me about how she worked this game many years ago and where they would load and unload their cars. I went back Saturday to that area and found the other 4 within 5 minutes....

These were the most interesting finds of the weekend but I was able to also find about $4 + in clad as well.....This AT Pro ROCKS!

==EDIT== I forgot to add that I found these at night with a full moon shining overhead....:happy2:

I found hundreds of these pennies when I lived in the UK but not in the great condition your's are.if you look to the left of the date on the KG v penny you'll see a mint mark H for Heaton mint or K N for Kings Norton mint

Thanks Tony. I will look for that tonight....I didn't see one that I remember but will double check....

Sorry hawk n dirt it was the 1918 and 1919 pennies that had the mint marks Oooops but still great looking coins.

Nice finds! Those are in great shape! Congrats!

Wow ! great day out !!!!! How cool would it have been if you'd gotten the Vickie , then the Edward VII, then the George V,then the George VI,
and finally Elizabeth II - but who's complaining ?

Thanks MSBeepBeep....Argentium, that would have been an amazing hunt to find all 5....This was such fun....I forgot to put in one important fact...These were all found by a full moon....I worked during the day and only had the evening to hunt. All of these were found about 10 or 11 on 2 consecutive nights by a full moon shining overhead....

1980s pennies aren't that good when they come out of the ground here, good job!

Awesome large cents

Now that looks like fun! Congrats on five excellent LC's. :icon_thumleft:

Good luck with your ATPro.
