Found this at a local park pretty close to a bunch of wheat pennies, mercury dimes, and silver Roosevelt's. could this be real or is it costume jewelry?

Looks nice! Best way to know is to test it with a gold testing kit or bring it to a jeweler.

Looks good, can't tell from the photo, but if that is turquoise that might be silver.
