I broke my two-month silver coin drought with a couple of beach silvers, including a 1940 half dollar. The front is pretty good for a beach find, though the back is toasted. The Mercury's date is weak, but I think it is 1937. The two rings are marked Sterling, with a maker's mark of VHC in a triangle for the thick band. The Canadian penny was a bonus, and is dated 1958. The sands have shifted at my favorite beach, and have buried over the productive spots. I felt real lucky to squeak out these finds given how few good hits I got. Happy Hunting.

Getting better!

Nice job rescuing silver from the beach. That environment really does a job on those targets...

Nice silver finds! Congratulations! Thanks for posting!

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Saltwater???? Nice finds

Nothing like getting a large silver to break the drought-congrats.

Saltwater???? Nice finds

Thanks ... yes, saltwater. That water sure does a job on coins, but the front of the half still looks pretty good even after marinating in it for 56+ years.

Walking Liberty half dollars are beautiful coins

Nice job on the silvers.

Congrats on ending your drought! Now you have to get to work on a silver streak.

Ha ha. That would be nice, but I am out of good spots, at least for now. Might have to get used to dry spells... oh well.
