Seems like its been forever since finding a silver coin but what a way to break out of a slump. My first Franklin half dollar. I got a 1906 permission today from a fella in his 60s. While talking to him I realized he was almost completely blind. Only saw shadows. I told him whatever I find was his and he could pick what he wants to give me. So I spread it all out for him after 2 hours of hunting forgetting he could not see any of it. He said he didn't want anything and he just wanted to hold the half dollar to feel it since he could not see it. I decided then I would give the guy $20 for letting me have it. I know it's not worth that much but this guy trusted me enough to search his yard. Only searched about a third of the yard, maybe he will let me hit it again. Also found two wheats. One was 1919. A couple of makeup compacts from the 20's? A pocket watch. The fronts trashed.
An old lipstick tube and a brass shaving handle.
Thanks for looking.

Very Nice!!!!! Congrats!!!!!

I still recall my first (and only) Franklin half. Found in 1985, 4 inches down, 1948.

Nicely done!! Those Franklins are an underrated coin. Not as elegant looking as a Walker but a very short run time. Finding one is always a treat!

Yes. I was pretty excited. I'm sure I'll remember this one. It was about 4" down also. The Nox read 31-33 strong and loud signal. Thought it was another pocket watch at first.

That's breaking a silver slump in a Big way- Congrats!

Nice hunt, Great story

Nice job on the Benny. That is a nice silver coin to dig.

A beautiful Benjamin half and other nice finds, too! Congratulations on your first Franklin! Thanks for sharing.
