No idea what it is, seems to be broken. I think it's maybe brass and it is very smooth to the touch. Deep hole.

Looks like it Might be part of a Crotal Bell.

Absolutely right on the crotal bell. They have been in use for over 500 years!

Really a shame it is busted. I dug a similar one with a different design and the iron mount is broken off.
