bronze bowl ?

I got this bronze metal small 1 1/2 " tall bowl at a goodwell, I been trying to fine out what it is, i clean it, i know i souldn't of clean it. It was so brown looking, but the bottom was not it look like gold, so thats why i clean it. Can you tell me what this is and how old it is and where dose it come from? Looks like brass, probably India they make a lot of Brass bells that are similar.

My opinion...
Not bronze... brass...
Crudely made... not old at all.
Probably used to hold small sponge and water/moisture for "licking/wetting" stamps...
Designs are made using a "pre-fab" design.
Could even be a piece from something larger.
Made in ? India ?

I belive it is an "apprentice"... or Scholastic piece...
Someones "first attempt"... or near first attempt at brass cast etc.
