First coin of the day today was one Ive been waiting for. Was starting to think would never leave my bucket list. 4 years and 2 weeks into digging and good me a large cent! I’ve seen my friends dig them. Didn’t notice at first it appears to be a “brothel token”!
Also found the military award and the button. Hopefully someone can identify them. The button looks old and possibly plated.
I tried to straighten these pictures and was unable. I give up. Sorry about that.

It's different & a keeper, but I read on here the 'Brothel Token thing' is a myth with a lot of legs....

A great haul - congrats !

Nice Large Cent ! I'm confused as Usual :coffee2:where's the Pic of the So-Called “brothel token” ?

Yes any Token for a "good time" or a case of The Pox :tongue3:
Is not something a "Bawdy House" Brothel would Advertise Openly on a token.

Definitely fantasy Pieces

Nice hunt, congrats on getting your LC cherry broken (keeping with the theme)
No idea on the sterling piece-though it does look familiar.

It just popped in-Maltese cross WWll the lower bar missing which would show Rifle/pistol and it could have a few different ones hanging off of the award.

No Idea what yet

The Shape Makes me Think Bikers or Racing.
Looks like a Wheel from a Car though

That's a US Army marksmanship badge you're showing. Sharpshooter level awarded for the Rifle category (and not necessarily WWII):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksmanship_badges_(United_States)

There are various formats, often with a target in the centre of the cross, but I'm not aware of any that have or had a 'wheel' or 'cog' in the centre like the OP's item. Neither do I immediately recognise the maker mark on the back as one of the established suppliers... but I'll do a bit of digging:

Edit: Just saw that Ron P has found it. Anyone know the maker?

Just found the maker. It's the mark used by 'Fox'. Very poorly documented but believed (tentatively) to be from Cleveland, Ohio. No dates given in my reference sources, but one badge with their mark attributed to the 1930s.

Congrats on your first Large Cent, and the rest of your finds.

Nice LC! Congratulations are in order.
The Army Badge is not related to marksmanship, it’s U.S. Army Driver Mechanic badge. Could be modern or from the 40’s, in the Infantry we referred to these badges as Bolo Badges. The reason was you could Bolo (not qualify for) the marksmanship badge and still get a badge for your dress uniform.

Jeff of PA,

Read the spelling of cent on the back of the large cent - they have replaced the “e” with a crude “u”, I have seen better jobs in other photos. Kurt from the Hoover Boys found one in one of their videos that had a very clear “u” on it. Supposedly the brothel client paid the madam their money and in return received the modified large cent to give to the girl to show that they had paid. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

I thought it was a rifle award at first but the center looks more like a gear instead of a circle. Couldn’t find one exactly like it online. Thanks
