I was cold and it was snowing this weekend, but "dig we must"! This past Saturday wasn't too bad, and Sunday was a bit better. I found a hole full of Buck and Balls. I hadn't found them together before, a musket ball every now and then. Finding them all together like that was cool. Took a while to get them all, may have missed 3 of the small ones, I wound up with a musket ball without the 3 small ones. They were about 10 inches in and under a large root.

or did someone cut a ring off of a three ring bullet?

My poor coil was a block of ice by the time I called it quits. Thanks and HH.

Congratualtions on the nice relic hunt! :occasion14:

J, congrats on a great day..love all that old lead, sorry I can't help i.d. the bullet but there's a few here that can, and will. Liking the button too...Ddf.

That's a "cool" hunt for sure! Bet those bucky balls were hard to find in the muddy ground. I'm not sure about the bullet but maybe Cannon ball guy will honor us with a visit. Nice job David.

HH, RN
I just looked back at the picture of the bottom of the star base bullet and I think you are right about it being cut off. We'll see what the experts say

Cool find!! Try Facebook " civil war relic" group, maybe someone will have your answer. Congratulations!!

Love the button.

Congrats on getting out and saving all that lead.
Virginia is so special when it comes to finding relics, I never think that winters in Virginia will get cold enough to stop you from hunting.

looks to be a Washington Arsenal bullet with the bottom ring cut off.
