buckle/horse tack help

I have a couple of items that would be great identifying and possibly dating.

The first is either a buckle or horse tack. It has no markings just some pretty basic decoration and a little bit of patina.

The second I really have no idea. I included a side view and bottom. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Possibly a broken tongue from a buckle?

Looks like the buckle off of a horses bridle. the part that goes up around the ears has a smaller buckle on it
