buckle , how old

i know this is a belt buckle , i thank it is?. looks real old. i can not find a name on it yet , i have not cleaned it good. i have found buckles before but not one that has the holder in the middle. thanks for any info on the age

What you have is a is a "conway" buckle. They are used on horse tack and harness, in non stressful areas, because they are not very secure. They are still manufactured in iron and brass, and in a lot of sizes.

thanks i don't know much about horse, and and there rig,s i thought it was a belt buckle. thank you for the info
