Thanks again. I can't tell if it's brass but I know it's made of a nonferrous metal. What is the best way to clean it?

It's bronze (copper alloy) I soak in olive oil and wrap mine in tissue which soaks up the excess oil, it can get a bit waxy doing this but it helps the patina, and seals it. You can also get the wax of ebay, the museums use.
