With inclement weather expected today, I decided to play hooky today(with the bosses blessing)…and headed to a local state beach, not expecting much more than some clad and some peaceful time detecting…the beach has been replenished over the past season…Detecting just above the receding tide, I managed to gather 4 quarters, 3 dimes, 2 nickels and 6 memorials..following some advice I read here, anytime I located a coin, I would spiral out from the target looking for more "towel throws".. after identifying the first nickel found as a modern one, I pocketed a second one about 2 feet away without checking it…It wasn’t till hours after I got home and began rinsing my finds did I discover the second nickel was in fact a buffalo…my first..it’s pretty corroded, but I’m hoping to try and get a date off it…thanks for looking
PS: For any Ace250 owners…While it’s been often stated that it isn’t any good detecting in wet sand, just for the record..all of today’s finds were dug in wet sand…some at considerable depth…Maybe I’m just lucky and the beaches here don’t seem to have much of an effect on the machine, besides for some occasional falsing…Still, I would recommend at least trying your machine out under these conditions, you might be in for a pleasant surprise..
