Bullet casing with wood ?

Hello Tnet,
Found this weird little broken of casing in a forrest here in the Netherlands.
It looks like it has wood in the casing any body know what it could be ??

Could it be that the casing became jammed in the weapon and that someone shoved a stick down the barrel in an attempt to push it out?

Maybe someone put it over the end of their walking stick or just got bored and jammed a stick into a Casing

Officers sometimes carried a swagger stick. Smaller than a cane and sized more like a riding crop. Some were adorned in trench art with bullets and cartridge cases for tips. Google swagger sticks and you will see what I mean.

Could be, but seems small. Maybe the owner only had a small amount of swagger.
