Bullet hole in what?

Hey everyone,

I was detecting the other and found what appears to be a rusted civil war buckle with a bullet hole in it. Let me know if you think the same, or feel free to suggest otherwise.

I think most buckles were brass. It could be a piece of an old car, woodstove, or ?

Of all the buckles I have seen on this forum I don't think that I have seen one that rusted. Having said that I believe in fact that it is not a buckle but something else. maybe next dig a buckle in great shape will come your way!
