anybody know the caliber and maybe age?

great, ive found a lot of .22's and 9mm lugers but that's the only .32 ive found good to know what it is, I'm guessing based on just the U that the date could be anywhere from the founding of the company to modern day but for some reason I just seems old to me guess theres no good way to tell.

The rimfire-cartridge headstamp showing only a single letter "U" written in indented lettering did not exist until the mid-1880s, and it continued being used well-into the 20th Century... as shown by the 1910 era .32 Long Rimfire cartridge with U headstamp marking at the Cartridge Collector webpage link helpfully provided by Icewing.
