It's a modern muzzle loader slug... Search Lyman Maxi Ball, this one is likely home cast and pure lead which is why you're getting some patina.

I have shot a lot of those .Thomson center maxi- ball.

Agree with the above. Perhaps up to 35 years old. I remember when they first came out, but not the exact date.
