Nice patina on this one I found.
I took several photos. It looks to be fired as there are maybe 6-7 lines going down it at an angle which I'd assume are rifling marks. Its base is hollowed out kinda. It's just a hair over 1/2 inch. It's roundness averages about that .305.
I thank you in advance.
Tim

Because your bullet has a cannelure / "ring" on it I'm pretty sure it's post civil war - the cannelure is used to crimp the mouth of a brass case around the bullet so that the bullets from the remaining cartridges in the magazine do not move forward or reward in the case when the gun is fired. A bullet that moves reward into an unfired case and was then fired ( especially from a tubular magazine) could cause a pressure increase in the breach or barrel of the gun and possibly cause it to blow up. My best guess is your bullet is from a .32-20 Winchester, designed in the early 1880's

Thanks Tedyoh. I appreciate you taking a stab at it.
This makes sense. The site is old. A battle occurred there in 1861. The town diminished in population afterward. Probably a hunter missed something sometime thereafter as you stated.
Learn something everytime I'm on here.
