Bullet Question

I read in another post about CW era civilian bullets being different than military bullets? Is this true? If so why? And I guess the final question, if I find a minie ball, can I assume it's CW military and not a civilian bullet that missed a deer? ;

Maybe mostly true but not always. Lots of Confederates used their own guns,defending their homeland.
