I found way more brass this week than I usually do. I kinda like the fleur-de-lis. I'm gonna keep that but the rest will go for scrap. I've got a lot of copper too so it is time to cash it in.
The brass chunk in the center of the picture weighs 180 grams. The rod on the top, far left weighs 98 grams. I don't usually weigh this kind of stuff but I was curious.
I get a lot of value out of metal detecting, and not just the jewelry, money, scrap metal, firewood, toys, relics, etc. Perhaps the most valuable things I get from metal detecting are intangible. I also value finding and returning lost items, being outdoors, cleaning up our planet, having friendly conversations with new people, learning history, finding out what some weird object you pulled out of the ground is and how it works, and so on.
Today on my metal detecting adventures, I saw a bat colony and I found an creepy old cemetery to explore (not md) later. I didn't find much in the ground. I found a dollar coin and a few pennies but that is all. I gave the dollar to an old guy on the corner who was missing an eye. Sometimes I give my finds away, I guess to kind of keep the good vibes going.
I almost forgot, does anyone know what the thing in picture 2 and 3 is? I think I will keep that, too.
