Burdie's Challenge YEA WINNER!

OK here we go GH. See if you can guess what this was used for. This is like a scavenger hunt also. Just a new twist.
First hint is what it was associated with.: A member from California with the letters (rv) said I could build one. Ask him about a post I had. May the best man or woman win.

Re: Burdie's Challenge

rv told you that? Do not ,I repeat DO Not believe anything he says! :D

If he said it ...then it must be a Harley!

Re: Burdie's Challenge

Looks like part of a drive shaft carrier bearing.

Re: Burdie's Challenge

Ask my California friend. It will lead you closer to the truth. It is made of brass and is missing the glass.
This is fun!!!! I will be gone till Monday. I will post the second hint then. Burdie
GOOD LUCK !!!!

Re: Burdie's Challenge

It's a recepticle for a magnifying lens that will fit over coins all the way up to a dollar so you can study them real close. Monty

If it's not, it should be!

Re: Burdie's Challenge

Howdy there 8). I think I might have a good guess :P.
Is it a camera lens for an old large format wet plate camera????
And hey Stony 56 you know I have not gotten up to OK yet. I hope the digging is better there then it is here the ground is so dry and hot you need a jackhammer just to break the surface ::).

Re: Burdie's Challenge

rvbvetter can tell you what it is associated with. He will be glad to play the game. E-mail him and get the answer. Each answer to a clue will lead you to the objects purpose.

Clue: A clock face tells time.......

It is not obvious but lies in the picture.

YEA!! Postfatal won. It was a case cover for a pressure gage. I found it at an old railroad repair shop.

Congrats Postfatal
Burdie...I have a question. Are these your trains? Cool photos. Also ...why would you want to build one? (Pressure gauge?) For restoration?
