Went back out to the old field that used to be a main road back in the 1700s. I decided to try an overgrown side of the field that hadn't yet been detected. First target I hit was a belt buckle. Then a scabbard guard and a rusted pocket knife. I walked into the woods on the edge of the field and my first target there was a toasted King George copper. I didn't find much else for about 3 or 4 hours until I hit my first ever rimfire shell. As the sun started to set I walked across a well pounded area in the field with a ton of big iron targets. It's rumored there was once a home site in the area and I surmised that there would be a ton of iron signals wherever that site might be. I also realized that I had been reading my machine a little off. So I punched up the sensitivity and decided to dig any and all choppy targets in the iron patch. Well to my surprise, I started to hit a ton of 50s and 60s and 70s targets interspersed with the big iron. I pulled button after button out of the plugs for about 2 hours. Some of them came up 2 to a hole. The best was the "shield" buckle that came out with both shanks intact and its 'crosspiece' in the same plug. If the sun hadn't gone down, I'd have kept digging buttons! I know exactly which part of the field I'm going back to next time!

WTG Diver Dann. You did well. Here's wishing you the best of luck on your return trip to the button field.

Nice variety of buttons and artifacts. Most certainly supports the suggestion the road dates back that far. Awesome job
