Cleaned up this button I found yesterday. I can't make out what is fully written on it DSC00873.webp. Wondering if anyone could help. The best I can tell looks like NEDICT&BURNHAM ??? some of it I cant read. Also have this small handle. Part of a oil lamp it is brass? DSC00874.webpDSC00875.webpDSC00876.webpDSC00877.webp

That is a finger hold to a candlestick

The type of button you dug is known among button collectors as a "Fashion" button, because it was made for use on fancy civilian clothing. More specifically, it is a variety which we relic-hunters call a Flower-button because it has a Floral design on its front. Yours was manufactured by the button-making firm of Benedict & Burnham, which was in business from 1834 to 1843 in Waterbury CT.
