Maybe a lapel button (Airforce or Aircorps?)

It was found in a corn field next to where i found a 1891 seated liberty and a 1908 barber quarter, if that helps

I'm going with the steer (longhorn), as I think an eye, ear, and nose can be seen in the picture taken at an angle. Also basing it on the popularity of that motif for farming and ranching folks. I'd describe it as maybe a button stud? Used on something leather would be my guess.

I'd say antique collar button, late 19th to early 20th century?. I'd see about getting it cleaned up properly and maybe that will reveal more details as what the motif is?. I've looked for a match under Google images search as "antique collar stud button" Maybe play around with the words in the search and you'l find a match? Kind of looks military to me. Spanish American, WWI :dontknow:

After cleaning it a little better, it almost looks like a button stud with a loop on the top and a piece of metal through it

Well, that sure changes things! :tongue3:
Now it looks more like a bottle closure.
