Button falling apart!

I'm not an expert by any means, but I would not coat it with anything as it will lose value to a collector. I would suggest just keeping it dry and giving it a nice home.
 

Hi Just saw this. The button doesn't have much monitary value so anything you do to keep it from coming apart won't really hurt it. When I dig a button cracked like that I put a bit of elmers glue on the back of the cracked area to secure that area of the face to the back. That's just the way I do it though If you didn't know the button is a US Infantry officers button
 

Elmer's glue and water. 50/50 paint it!
