I found this flat button. It says * LONDON * near the shank and has some wreath scrolling on the outer edge with more writing. All I can make out is LVII. I'm trying to figure out how old it may be. Does any one know? Thanks

Not LV I I...

Turn it over. It says PLATED.

What size is it? It likely dates from late 1700's to 1840ish.

Yep it's an oldie. Looks like a good spot to hunt in the woods

It's about the size of a quarter.

Thanks or the help. It seems to be a decent spot. There's a ton of iron to dig through. So far Ive found an 1820 large scent, two buckles, Civil war Era general services button, 6 flat buttons( 1 silverplated), and a few odds and ends.

Iron is a good sign. Most old house sites have a ton of it. You might consider gridding the site and working all the targets out of one area at a time. I suspect you'll see patterns in the iron field showing where the house and the out buildings were located.

It's a pain to dig through all the iron to get to the good stuff but keep at it and it will pay off.
