Button Identification

Can anyone ID this button? There is a star in the middle which is hard to see on the picture. It was found in an area that had civil war and revolutionary war activity.

we need to see the back or give us the back mark bud.....so we can date it for you.

yes it does look pewter,but pewter has been around a long time.The back mark or a picture of the back will help the most.Even If there is no backmark,looking at the way the button was made and or the shank will help out.

There is no backmark. The button is actually brass. It looks like pewter because of the scan with top open. It showed up better this way. Thanks for your help.
