Button maybe?

Found this while detecting yesterday. This appears to be a button by its size and shape but lacks two holes, four holes or a shank. Normally I'm able to discriminate between something worthwhile and junk. No pun intended. lol This one has got me. It appears to be brass with an outer lip that is offset from the center. There are no visible markings on it. My original thought was that it is part of a button.

It may not be anything, but that's the beauty of detecting; You never know! Any help would be greatly appreciated. HH everyone!

Maybe a jar lid insert? Could have been set on top of a jar and secured with a screw top lid. Just a guess on my part! I've gotten similar items, but they usually have something stamped on the lid. The company name or a patent date, for example.
