I agree with Vayankvayank54 said:Hey Guys I'm going to pput my two cents in. I hope that's ok I think the button is a mid 1800's flower button. Mainly because of the detail and how heavy the gilt is. The flower button were civilian buttons but we dig a lot of them in civil war camps. the came in a lot of different sizes and designs and could have either brass or tin backs. I'm attaching a pic of a similar one with a SC button that I dug in the same hole earlier this year.
