Button? Rivet?

I dug this up today from under about 8" of hard packed dirt. It was very near a location where I dug up two civil war bullets.
It measures 9/16" diameter and is 3/64" thick. It has a 9/64" tall, 7/32" wide stub on the back.
It definitely has some writing/design on the front, with possibly a "25" towards the center, and some type of concentric rings around the perimeter.
It is probably nothing, but it was something.

Until a member pipes in - you might consider posting your pictures on WHAT IS IT? for additional exposure...
 

The pictures are out of focus and I can't tell if that's rusty iron or bronze. But if bronze, based on the decorative face and short post on the back, I would venture a guess at clothing rivet off something like coveralls.
 

It looks iron the head off a steel rivet, or nail.
 

Fair enough. That's as good of a photo as it will take. As deep as it was and given the location, I believe it is pretty old. Definitely not contemporary. Quite corroded, but definitely has some design to it. I am also leaning toward a rivet of some sort. I know Civil War buckles were attached with spike devices; were any attached with anything looking remotely like this?
