I think this may be a civil war button not sure since it has a screw on back and it still screws on and off after being in the ground any help.

That is a WW1 era collar disk, Company F 13th regiment. It's called a "Type 1"

Thanks for the info I was hopeful it was civil war I know there was civil war activity in the area. But also an old house that dates to that period.

Hmm this is my first one around an old homesite. I only searched about 15 min before the rain started. Ill have to hit it again tomorrow to see what I can find

I find it very interesting I never really thought about finding a ww1 uniform piece I was shooting for civil war era relics. Bit you never know what your going to dig up.
