Yesterday I went out in the back yard to spend a few minites minutes with my detector. I only had a short period of time. I have been through my back yard before many times and pulled up some pieces of barbed wire, some coins, screws and a couple of nuts. Yesterday I got a hit of 45 on my Ace. I dug a plug about four inches deep and found a button. It was a plain face button and on the back said treble guit and it had a crown on it. It had no location of where it was made. The lettering was raised with no date or other identifing marks on it. I am guessing it was made in England in the late 1700s or early 1800s and imported to the US for civilian use. If any one can shed more light on it would be great. I couldn't believe from the time I walked out in the yard until the time I found it was about five minutes.

Welcome to TNet Dave.

You appear to be all over the ID. Show us a picture of the back of the button, and someone will confirm the ID.

Congrats on the discovery!

I can take a pic but the text on the button is so worn that it can only be read with a magnifing glass. I didn't even know it had text until I started cleaning it. I will take some pics when I get home.

Thanks

Try taking a closeup through the magnifying glass.
Co gatsby on the button.
