Great finds :icon_thumright: I believe rich Russian will be happy to pay you top dollar for them now when sympathies shifted from 'Red Star' to 'Double Headed Eagle'. I reckon 'White Guards' stuff that is found in Finland is the most valuable. Priceless historically.

Fine looking medal and Double eagle!

Fantastic old finds :icon_thumleft: can you give a age on the Double Eagle button :dontknow: what was the significance of the Double Eagle used on buttons and coins by many country's ?, here i find 2 Austrian silver coins in a early Dutch settlement 1625 to 1626 Ferdinand II , Leopold I with Double Eagle,s Thanks for any information  Dd60

I believe some European countries inherited 'Double Headed Eagle' from the Bysantine Empire and they in turn 'borrowed' it from the ancient Sumerian civilization. Actually this is not quite an innocent symbol :D - it's like claiming a dominance over both East and West.

Hi Deepdiger60 :hello:
The shield with the imperial crown and the double eagle of in several places at once:
1-In the Byzantine Empire shield. the Oriental Romans .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine_Empire

2- In the Holy sacre Roman Empire was a European empire of exclusively German Catholic who claimed to revive the old Roman Empire.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Roman_Empire

3.This eagle also appears on the shield of The Habsburg Monarchy ,family kingdom in Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Spain (also in the territory USA) were called Absburgo,The double eagle (two Head) also appears in the ancient shield of my country since 1520.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habsburg_Monarchy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_V,_Holy_Roman_Emperor

4- In the Russian Empire shield ,The coat of arms of the Russian Federation derives from the earlier arms of the Russian Empire, as restored in 1993 .(I think that this button belongs to the Russian army)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Russia

the two-headed eagle appears in many kingdoms that were created from the Roman Empire, represents the rebirth of a new nation , descends from an older ( The Roman) so in Russian shield appears the eagle...

greetings ! :read2:
