Caliber of bullet? Old

Friend found this bullet 6-8 inches deep. Looking for a possible identification. Located in a field where many objects from the early 1800's were found.

Looks like a bullet from a .22 rimfire shot out of a Marlin rifle with micro groove rifling. Microgroove rifling was introduced in 1953 and still made today.
