Has anyone ever done any searching around the Camp Curtin site in Harrisburg? I know most of it is a park and I visited the Nation Civil War Museum (a great place) a few year ago. And I also read a good book about the history of the cam. My great-great-grandfather was mustered there in 1862 into the 138th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.

I live too far away to so much research on it. But it looks like a very interesting place.

Okay. I must admit my mistake.

Camp Curtin was north of the capitol building and is now covered with houses and businesses. I believe it was along 6th Street and was no where near the present National Civil War Museum.

However, Camp Curtin was the largest Civil War training center in the Union and has more than 300,000 soldiers pass through there. It seems like there would still be stuff in the ground in the local parks and people's backyards.
