Hello everyone today was a fun day even though I am in the middle of a rain storm (south shore ma). My brother has been going out with me metal detecting lately and finally decided he wanted to buy his own. We went up to metaldetectors.com in Rockland and he pick up the ace 400. They were really nice and set it up and showed him how to use it and also gave us each a free shirt. When we walked in there where also two other people in there looking up there recant finds, both where pine tree shilling so I got to see that for the first but hopefully not last time. Excited about the new detector we decided to go out for a quick hunt in the pouring rain. I took him to a spot behind are house where I found some buttons and other interesting relics recently. His first signal was a iron nail and the second was a very good condition 1826 large cent (I don't have pics of it but I'm sure he will be joining the fourm tonight ) . I found this button in the same area but had to leave shortly after due to trees falling all round us. It dose have some designe looks to be rope or something similar and maybe gold plated at some point. Also forgot to take a pic next to a ruller but it is the same size as a nickel. Thanks for looking

Late 18th century dandy with a gold gilt. Nice find

I wouldn't call it a 'Dandy Button' but being a 1 piece basket style weave button dates it from about 1780-1820.

Congratualtions on the very detailed Dandy button! :occasion14:
