Found this a few years ago while I was hunting in the woods, deer not relics, looked down and it was just laying there. Can anyone tell me what this is or maybe what it's a repop of? Thought it looked cool so I kept it. 20200105_210343.webp20200105_210334.webp20200105_210416.webp20200105_210627.webp20200105_210620.webp

Think I found it, toy. Dont know why in the world or how it got out there though lol

Looks like the claw of something that also hunts deer.

Looks a lot like a cat's claw, but too big for a house cat.

Is it dense like a fossil or is it plastic?
It really dont feel like a plastic to me. It's pretty solid. Yeah it's too big to be a mountain lions claw I would assume

What kind of ground? Did it maybe roll down out of a hill or slope?

If it is a fossilized dinasaur claw it is pretty valuable. Sure you can buy a toy dinasaur claw replica for less than $20, but the real deal ones can sell for $,$$$.

Where I was hunting it is kind of a bottom in the woods about a 40 yard x 60 yard area but no big hill. Just dont want to try to get someone to identify it and it turn out to be a toy replica lol

It's a claw from a BIG black bear. Missing the outer shell, that's the inner bone portion.

I agree with Kray, it's likely a bear claw.

Holy cow, I've never even heard of a bear being in the area of our farm or miles around in that case

Not a fresh claw for sure. It's been there for some time. I found that in 2015, a hunter took a 515 pound black bear near Oneida on the Cumberland Plateau. They will get to over 800 pounds rarely.

It looks like a velociraptor claw to me.

can you post any clearer, close-up pics of it? I agree it looks a LOT like a raptor claw, but I'm not sure if any living animals still have the same look. I dont think it look enough like the bear claw to claims that to be it.

Can you do a burn test? Either with flame or red hot needle to the item. If it smells like burning hair, or plastic then it modern or fake. If nothing happens, then you could have a fossil.
