TEKNETICS Bounty Hunter PINPOINTER is what he was using, You can find these on eBay for $44.95 plus shipping.

That's a great video, Well made..

Thanks for sharing the video,

Thanks for the ID. I like the tapered probe with a semi point on the end. I think it beats one with a flat end. Just hope it works like a Vibraprobe or other quality pinpointers.

Don't dig with your pinpointers, they do break that way!!

Keep @ it and HH!!

I can't do youTube here at work (blocked) but I did a search on the Bounty Hunter pinpointer and it looks identical to my Fisher F-Point; and probably is. I use it in preference to a fancier and more expensive Merlin SXL Pro. It's a handy little unit, rugged and weatherproof. Good for a little over an inch on a flat quarter and half that edge-on. Works very well when probing holes.

I have one of the bounty hunter pin pointers & it looks like the pictures of the fisher pinpointers I have
been seeing . Don't know if they are exactly the same or not . I liked the small tapered point on the
bounty hunter pinpointer . If using it in soft ground , you could stick it in the ground & find the target .
However , the cap on the battery compartment wouldn't stay on so I taped it on . I am just a little hard
of hearing & couldn't hardly hear it with my headphones on & the vibration was pretty weak .

Just picked up one of these today. It's a bounty hunter and I think it will serve me well. The battery door does seem like it will give me some problems. $44 can't beat it. Thanks to all.

Here's the solution to the battery cap.

Pull the cap off and put the 9v IN THE CAP so that the widest edges are pushing against the tabs.

Slide the battery & cap into the handle and snap it closed.

You'll need to pry it apart when the time comes to replace the battery.

Hello fellow Tneters,

I have a Teknetics pinpointer and I really like it. I purchased mine will my Whites Bullseye pinpointer was in the shop getting replaced. I got to the point where I really liked it and still use it until I can't locate the target and then pull out my "new" Bullseye. I got a great deal as I purchased it through Cabelea's on a "Bargin Cave" sale. $36.99 plus shipping and used my Cabelea's points.

I would recommend it to anyone, just treat it with TLC and use Charlie P. (NY)'s battery trick.

My buddy has one of these pinpointers. He used it to dig and probe and wore out the tip in no time. He used epoxy putty to repair the hole and wrapped it up about an inch from the tip. It's better than new now. And he STILL probes with it...

Fisher, Teknetics, Bounty Hunter are the same.. I like mine so well I have two.. Wore the tips off both and First Texas replaced them.. Now I put about 2-3 layers of epoxy about 1-1 1/2 " up the tip.. When hardened I make a form with tape extending out from the tip and fill with epoxy about a 1/4" and let dry.. When fully cured carefully file into a sharper point ( checking with a light source from the back)..
Go slow and don't file and sand through the epoxy coated sides you first applied.. This makes the tip durable and can be touched up when necessary.. Also with the sharper point it penetrates the soil easier..
I also remove the knob and cut some closed cell foam rubber and place it over the stem and replace the knob to help keep the dirt out and to keep the knob where you set it..
As far as the battery goes do what was stated in the previous post or carefully spread them some.. Also a coat of silicone grease on the seal will help some.. Remember when looking at the cap from the side the prongs are toward the bottom of the cap.. That's the way it goes back on, prongs toward the bottom of the body..
