Can someone fill me in on the new sand along the beach?

someone told me the moved alot of sand from south carolina to florida's east coast because of erosion, would that explain why i find the real old pull tabs? what the deal with the beach and why is it so flat? and did the sand come from deep water or from shore etc? im getting tired of pull tabs!

adh247, most of the sand that was put on Cocoa beach during the county's beach reclamation project came from off shore dredging. The county has a location just off shore that they dump sand from the port, and later pump it up onto the beach. Other beaches to the south had sand trucked in from someplace on the mainland. They are currently working a dune build up project just north of Conova Beach park located at Eau Galle Blvd and A1A. This is also sand trucked in from someplace on the mainland.
