Zelda what ever you are tasting bears no point on the stone. Rific posits a good suggestion I'll add that the black structures could be severely altered tourmaline or hornblende.

Do you think the inclusions could be pyroxene? Also, what are your thoughts on the crystalline structures? When I first found this rock, they were a more greenish color, but have since turned more to a brownish color. Also the rock was almost pure white, but has oxidized since rinsing with water. Thanks.

Pryoxene is a rather large group definition, and yes its possible that what you have is of that group. Only testing would determine which pryoxene it is~ in this case the use of an XRF tester would be of value. As to the green tint it was likely algae that has since died off or been cleaned away~ a bleach bath would help clean of the residue's. I don't feel your specimen has oxidized just dried out.
I'm not seeing much for crystal structure, the overall appearance looks altered which is common with igneous materials in metamorphic zones. Try taking a fresh chip off the side and look at the internal structure, also look at how it breaks apart for idea's on its fracture pattern and crystal structure.
