Welcome to the forum. Check out steve's thread he has something very simular to your black stone, looks like limonite~ streak test, hardness and maybe an SG test can confirm it. The second stone is a quartz pebble. Have fun

I tried to scratch it with a scissor and it doesnt affect the stone. But i used the stone to the scissors flat sides it marked a line or deep scratch on my scissor.
Tried it on other rocks but it does not affect the black stone that i have.

See if the black stone is magnetic, I thought magnetite with my stuff but it wasn't magnetic and the SG and streak didn't match. If you have a gram scale weigh your stone, then take a cup of water put it on your scale and even it out back to zero, then take sewing thread and tie it to your rough black stone, dangle it into the middle of the cup of water without touching the bottom or sides, divide the weight of the stone and the weight of the stone submerged in water and you'll get the specific gravity of your stone. The only stone I've seen that somewhat matches mine with color and metallic luster, streak, SG is limonite goethite, which still doesn't explain the red color, probably a psuedomorph with a little hematite maybe.

140g is the rock.
410g is the h20 in cup.
455g dip rock with sewing thread at half the cup not touching the bottom. Is it 3g?correct me if im wrong.

Did you balance out the 410g of h20 back to zero? If not do that before you dip your stone in, try to get the stone perfectly in the middle of the water without touching the bottom or sides, the stone has to be fully submerged, divide the weight of the stone submerged in water with 140g the weight of the stone and that will be the specific gravity

I used manual weighing scale in grams. And yes i did follow your instruction... And the 410g water in cup in zero.
140g is the stone.
455g stone dip in water in cup not touching the bottom or sides of the cup.In which stone fully submerge not touching bottom or sides with sewing thread..

I've never used a manual scale, I always use digital, something isn't right, you shouldn't be getting 455g, the number should be less than 140g. Try a digital scale, put the cup of water on, then balance it back to zero like nothing is on the scale then dip the stone in. Divide that with 140g, I'm not always the best at giving instructions if your still scratching your head watch a YouTube video on it, its really easy to do, you just have to have a good scale, mine isn't the best but it works.
