Cannon find again

I’m not sure if anyone remembers my
Cannon barrel post from a few years ago
(July3 2017)This is the barrel anyway today I was up on my hill outside of town ,we’re I have found shards of iron that match and boom 100 yards from the barrel this little beauty.so I’m thinking this is looking like the real deal and I’m shaking still.

That’s amazing! It must have been quite an explosion when that thing blew up. I’d love to know the story behind it. Were there any canon forges nearby that you know of? Is it located near a known battle ground? I wonder if anyone was killed, I can’t imagine how someone wasn’t.

IS there a hole through the knob to the inside ? ? ? it appears so in pictures... but cannot see clearly.... also pics are sorta deceiving.

And... is the 4th picture (in my screen anyway) the same object ? ? ?

I'm sure it's a great find but your pics sadly don't do it any justice. Would be nice if you uploaded images that are at least 300k-400k or more.

Yes same object top view picture 5 is inside or bottom view.And welcome I’m glad you’re here as you were the main skeptic in 2017 cannon ball guy was a yes it’s a cannon.

I don't see the hole now... errr

Anyway... If this is truly an artillery piece... Sometimes this damage was done on purpose... rarely... but for example... for whatever reason the cannon could not be taken with... and opposed to it being used by others they were packed full plugged and long fused.

This method was for obvious reasons... for it not to fall into use by someone else's hands.

Well... if that is a hole... and it goes through from interior bore through the knob... then this is highly suspect.
