Cant figure this one out

This is an iron object ~ 6" in length. It has a sheath that has the same shape as a rifle barrel or something. Indian pottery was everywhere at this site.Thanks, Stephen

With the hole I would think it is some kind of farm tool. Strange but good find!

WAG - perhaps the heel fitting from a scythe? Looks similar to one I have still on the scythe. The tang of the blade lays along the tang on your piece and a seperate ring clamps them tightly together
