CaptainFwiffo's running totals

Inspired by SeaninNH, I've decided to have a post just for keeping track of the totals from all my CRH activities. I've not been doing this for long, so the record represents all the searching I've done. I'll only list the significant stuff here, though I might consider other coins keepers (for instance, I keep all pre-1960 nickels unless they're completely trashed, coins with naked-eye die cracks and other minor errors, foreign coins, coins in particularly nice condition, etc. but none of these are really that valuable).

I'll also calculate the ratio of keepers to coins searched in a couple different formats. I'll list troy oz of silver per box, as well as number of keepers per box. For calculation purposes, I'll define keepers as anything silver, any key dates, semi-key dates, NIFC, valuable varieties or errors, proofs, coins in exception condition and old designs (wheats and Indian head pennies, Buffalo nickels, etc.)

Dollars
1 clad Ike from Coinstar reject tray
2 mint rolls ($50): 1 possible minor struck-through error 2011P Native American dollar
Jar of doom ($2): No keepers

Box 2 ($500): 1 NIFC
Box 3 ($500): Skunk
5 Rolls ($50): 3x90%, 6x40%
2 Rolls 6/11 ($20): Skunk
Box 6/15 ($500): 4 NIFC

0.61 ozt Ag and 4.05 keepers per box

Quarters
Pre-CRH: Unstruck planchet error
Jar of doom ($271.00): Skunk

Diddly squat!

Dimes
Pre-CRH: 5 silver Roosevelt, 1 Mercury, 1 double-clipped error
Box 1 ($250): 1 silver Roosevelt
Box 2 ($250): 1 silver Roosevelt
Box 3 ($250): 3 silver Roosevelt
Box 4 ($250): 3 silver Roosevelt, 1 Mercury

Jar of doom ($38.75): ???
6/11 Box ($100): 1 semi-key (1949S), 1940 AU-50+, no silver
6/16 Box ($100): 2 War, 1 Buffalo, 1 two-headed trick nickel
6/18 Box ($100): 1 Buffalo

0.056 ozt Ag and 2.29 keepers per box

Pennies
Pre-CRH: 23 wheats
My sorting method means I don't have per-box totals, but so far I've searched $75 in rolls, finding:
43 wheats
1 Indian head
3 2009P doubled-dies (2 EC WDDR-105, 1 EC WDDR-082)
Jar of doom ($78.78): 24 wheats

14.4 keepers per box

I'll update this post with future finds.

Re: CaptainFwiffo's running totals

Glad I could inspire you.

I love seeing what people get regularly. We get to see how long it REALLY takes to get a good score lol.

Congrats on the indian. I've never found one in a box of pennies.

I don't list my pennies. I go through too many lol.

If I ever find an indian or eagle I'll post that.

Did you find the blank quarter in a box?

Re: CaptainFwiffo's running totals

I found it in my change jar a couple years ago. Don't know where it came from. Possibly came in a roll of quarters I got for laundry.

Re: CaptainFwiffo's running totals

A couple co-workers know I've been collecting coins, and their banks are out of the way for me, so I gave them each 20 bucks and said to pick up whatever half dollars the bank has. I didn't expect them to find any, and one didn't, but the other came back with two customer wrapped rolls. My heart almost stopped when I opened the first one. 1964, 1964, 1966... All told, 3x90% and 6x40% in the first roll. Nothing of note in the second roll, but the first one makes up for it. Needless to say, I'm gonna get all the rest they have as soon as possible!

Update: Went to the bank, got the remainder of their halves (just $30 worth), no more silver.

Re: CaptainFwiffo's running totals

I've updated the OP with my newest finds and added some information about the efficiency of the various denominations.
